Toby is a big boy full of energy, loves to play with other dogs, run and fetch toys, swim and take long walks. He loves attention, and to be by your side, lay on your feet and sometimes thinks he is small enough to lay in your lap.
Toby came to us with excitement issues, not understanding how big he is and that he should not jump up. When he is not properly exercised or directed he gets excited and expresses it by jumping. He means no harm, he just was not taught this correctly. He is much better now, however it will still need to be reinforced when going to a new home.
We have been working with him at both a city home with a small yard, leash walks and also a country property teaching leash free training, proper recall with run free exercise.
Of course larger yards are always the best place to raise a Chesapeake, but with proper exercise, he easily adapts to both.
Toby requires a owner that is active, understands he is a puppy still, crated if necessary but not crated all day while his people are at work. While he thinks he is a lap dog, he needs direction to grow up to continue being a obedient boy with good manners.
Toby is available to a home that is an experienced owner who will give him love, direction and the care he requires. In return he gives back that same love that dogs are all about.
